This service is only available for version 2.0 of the Virtual Private Cloud service activated at Data Center IT3 (with replica at Data Center IT1) and at Data Center IT1 (with replica at Data Center IT3), can only be requested during the activation phase. This is an alternative option to disk space without a second backup copy.
It is not possible to add or remove it once the additional BaaS service has been activated.
When activating the
BaaS service (Veeam Cloud Bare Metal Backup) the "disk space with second backup copy" option is available, allowing you to activate a second off-site copy of the Backup at another Data Center in a separate location.
The size of the disk space selected for a "disk space with second backup copy" can be changed (upgraded or downgraded) once the service has been activated.
Activating the "disk space with second backup copy" guarantees that the 3-2-1 rule is respected:
- 3 copies of data;
- 2 different backup storage methods (SSD and SAS);
- 1 copy off-site.
How to activate the "disk space with second backup copy" when the additional BaaS service is already active
For users who have already activated the additional BaaS service (with Virtual Private Cloud version 2.0) and are interested in activating a second off-site copy, the only option is to disable the additional BaaS service before renewing the Virtual Private Cloud service and then reactivate it with the "disk space with second backup copy" option selected.
